Dec 3, 2018 12:00:00 AM

Is it December already? Time flies when you are focused on building new features! In October you saw that LoanBuddy passed $50,000,000 in student loan debt on our platform as well as debuting our new enhancement at the XYPN Conference in St. Louis that brought private debt, 501c3 verification and PSLF features to the dashboard.

Last month the FPA of Michigan Fall Symposium we previewed our new Education tab and now we are pleased to announce our new partner Rebecca Maurer! LoanBuddy now provides a series of FREE and helpful videos lead by Rebecca to update you with the basics on student loans as well as ongoing advanced training.

Rebecca Maurer is an emerging leader in student loan law and policy.

She is a graduate of the University of Chicago and Stanford Law School, which she attended after seeing the effects of the foreclosure crisis on her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. She narrowed her interest to student loan law when she saw the difficulties she and her classmates encountered in managing their own debt.

In 2014 she published her first article on student loan and bankruptcy issues. In 2015 she helped design and implement a student loan calculator available in the iOS App Store. She has worked on consumer and student loan cases at Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLC and the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. Rebecca was a federal clerk for Judge James Gwin in the Northern District of Ohio from 2015–2016.

Rebecca is the author of the Student Loan Law chapter of the 2018–2019 edition of Ohio Consumer Law, published by Thomson Reuters. She continues to consult and write on a variety of student loan and consumer debt issues.

As owner and founder of Maurer Law LLC, Rebecca focuses her practice on student loan law and pro bono housing and consumer law representation in collaboration with community organizations in the Cleveland area.

Rebecca is admitted to practice law in Ohio, the District of Columbia, the Northern District of Ohio, the Southern District of New York and the Sixth Circuit.
